Founded at the University of Edinburgh, GX Africa is a pan-African green career accelerator helping university and TVET students turn climate interest into practical skills, portfolio evidence and access to green economy opportunities.
The new economy could create 375 million green jobs globally over the next decade, yet access to the skills, technology, credentials and networks needed to compete remains deeply unequal. Through challenge-based learning, GX Africa participants use AI to explore climate policy, complete relevant courses and lead community outreach.
Cohort 2 brought together 31 ambassadors from 20 countries, generated 21 course-completion submissions and reached approximately 6,000 people through ambassador outreach. The wider platform has reached 56,000+ people, grown to approximately 5,000 followers, and shared 300+ green opportunities and 100+ green courses.
Our 2036 ambition is to help one million African university and TVET students build the skills, evidence and connections needed to access and shape the green economy.
The Programme Fellow will support the delivery of Generation GX Cohort 3, a three-month programme for young Africans interested in green careers and climate action. GX Africa may appoint more than one Fellow and adapt the focus of each role to reflect the selected candidates’ strengths, experience and availability, as well as evolving programme needs. Candidates are also welcome to pitch new ideas for what the role could look like for them.
